Citi Foundation Invests $5 Million to Expand and Strengthen Financial Capability Services for Low-Income Americans

Corporate Voices' partner company, Citi through its Citi Foundation and in partnership with NeighborWorks America recently made a $5 Million investment in a project designed to expand and strengthen financial capability programs for thousands of low- and moderate-income Americans. The Financial Capability Demonstration Project will provide financial coaching services to more than 65,000 households and deepen the understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing low and moderate income Americans in today's economic environment.
Through this partnership, NeighborWorks America will train more than 400 practitioners from hundreds of organizations to deliver effective financial education and coaching services to low-income clients. In addition, a special subset of 30 organizations have been competitively selected to receive a package of dedicated technical assistance and evaluation tools, along with grant awards to support program implementation. The Citi Foundation hopes to help these community based institutions more effectively respond to a range of financial challenges facing low- to moderate-income consumers.

Corporate Voices Participates in Workforce Development Public Policy Forum
Corporate Voices, along with Novartis and Rutgers University participated on a workforce development panel at the United Way of Northern New Jersey's Public Policy Forum on Monday, May 23. John-Anthony Meza, Vice President of Workforce Readiness, spoke about the skills employers are looking for from their entry-level workforce. He also highlighted the community-wide solutions that are needed to ensure that these workers are prepared for success.
As part of his presentation, Meza shared findings from Corporate Voices' most recent workforce readiness research and described Corporate Voice's current workforce readiness initiatives, Enterprising Pathways, Learn and Earn and Ready by 21. The event was picked up by local media in the New Jersey area. |

Corporate Voices' Legislative Update:
Capitol Hill Briefing on Summer Learning and Education Reform
On Tuesday, June 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) will host a Capitol Hill briefing focused on the importance of summer learning to education reform and ESEA reauthorization. The event is co-sponsored by Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN).
Speakers will focus on the role of schools and community-based organizations in delivering quality summer learning programs that are essential to closing the achievement gap and supporting the healthy development of young people. NSLA will also introduce the newly-formed National Summer Learning Coalition. Refreshments will be provided.
